NASHVILLE! HORROR FANS AND THEATER KIDS UNITE!

You really don’t want to miss this side splitting jaw dropping parody masterpiece. Don’t fret my friends you can still grab a seat but time is running out! Click the link for show times Saw The Musical

I’m perusing around on Instagram and an ad pops up “SAW THE MUSICAL!” I instantly was intrigued and I just knew I had to buy a ticket to witness this with my own eyes. I am a huge fan of all things dark and twisted and you know what I never was big on musicals but now as I’m older, I have a new admiration for them.

I wasn’t sure what to expect upon arriving. I am still new to Nashville and feel as though there are so many gems here to uncover.

Saw The musical was held at The Barbershop Theater which is an independent local venue that is a creative hub for independent resident companies such as the Street Theatre and Verge Theater Company. If it’s one thing you should know about me is I whole heartedly and very loudly love supporting local artists and businesses. I encourage you always to support anything and everything local. When you support local artists/ businesses you are helping your community thrive, creating local jobs and really making your community have a unique identity. Did you know for every $100 you spend locally about roughly $68 stays in the local economy helping strengthen the tax base and supporting local services. Not to mention you are also helping reducing environmental impact. If we can support one another by spending out money local we can build stronger and more connected communities. I don’t know about you but local businesses just feel more real and I’d rather be supporting someone’s dream that has a true passion than a cookie cutter chain that’s just in it for the profit. Okay my rant is over.

BACK TO THE MUSICAL

There was plenty of free parking, finding a spot wasn’t overwhelming. The outside was decorated and you were able to have a photo op moment! Just don’t go in the tub!

The main focus of the parody was the opening scene reimagined from the original Saw movie when Lawrence Gordon and Adam Stanheight were chained. From the set, lighting, sound and choreography it was absolutely excellent. It was an eerie set that’s for sure!

The Barbershop Theater is an intimate venue which I love because you feel more connected with the artist, you can see and hear everything perfectly. The comedic twist was absolutely genius. The whole audience was laughing at every delivery. This was well written and the energy from the actors kept you locked in and engaged. Which by the way, I bought tickets for the second row which included a squeaky pig that was an interactive keepsake for the show! You can also get tickets that include the splash zone.

Ah! Also during the show they had the pig mask (which quite frankly is freaky in person to see) you know the pig mask in Saw that Amanda wears to disguise herself yeah that one! One of the best parts is Jigsaw being a hand-and-rod puppet! I wonder if someone from the production created him. I loved how Jigsaw had a musical number about wanting to play a game.

You know how I mentioned there was a splash zone.. well as you know in SAW Dr.Gordon well you know saws his foot off.. they reenacted that moment and there’s fake blood (that smells like cherry) that the actor pops at random bursts in the designated splash zone. There are ponchos available as well as merchandise!

They had coffee mugs with the Musical logo, tote bags, earrings, collectible cards, t-shirts and even a little pig with hair. There were also refreshments and they had my favorite fridge cigarette aka Diet Coke. I don’t want to give too much away and highly recommend you see this for yourself! You won’t regret it!
