NASHVILLE!! Orthodox held their first annual 615 Day, a free event at Eastside Bowl. It was a all ages event on a first come first serve basis, doors opened at 6pm and there was no barricade. Here is the all Nashville line up
- DOGPILE
- LETHAL METHOD
- TRUST AND FAITH
- DIE TRYING
This was my first hardcore show in Nashville. (I am a transplant from NY, yeah yeah save your boos and tomatoes because IDGAF.) The turn out was incredible. Especially with the event only being promoted a week before, there was like a turn out of 200 people if I heard correctly. I honestly wasn’t sure if my schedule would work out and then to my surprise everything aligned. I was thrilled experiencing Nashville’s hardcore scene and seeing how the bands sound and wasn’t disappointed at all.

I met some really nice people there and we chatted about music and talked about other bands and shows to check out. It was refreshing and much needed because for a Monday it already has been a long week, ha! Also some people I met told me to check the venue Drkmttr out because they regularly host hardcore shows. Hopefully before summer is over I can make it there that’s just a lil summer goal.

I also didn’t bring my camera because I wanted to see how well my new detachable Apex fisheye phone lens worked and welp let me know in the comments what you think.

I really wanted to get down in the pit and two step but that Monday really kicked my arse and my energy was low. Everyone down there was constantly moving! The was a lower stage for stage diving, people were moshing, two stepping, flips, kick spins, crowd surfing it was all happening all at once. Complete chaos but what is life without chaos?

I just turned 35 on June 1st and my body to be honest can only handle so much now a days haha. Ya know its a bitter sweet feeling realizing you can’t throw down like you use to. Aging in my opinion is a beautiful thing because not everyone gets to live to see the age we are at. We don’t know when our expiration date is so let the wrinkles and greys show or don’t it’s YOUR call.

I went up top to the balcony and observed the scene from above and watched everyone mosh and crowd kill from a distance. The symphony of chaos was beautiful, until people started jumping off the balcony. Listen I am a mom so I was concerned! I get it, its a hardcore show and I respect the scene. I totally understand peoples free will and they obviously know the risks they’re taking. I am just happy that the person that verbally stated their doubts while another person was encouraging them to jump chose not to. Sorry not sorry but I had said ” YOU DON’T HAVE TO JUMP COME BACK.” You don’t ever have to do anything in life that makes you uncomfortable not matter the pressure from the outside. Sometimes our first thoughts aren’t always the best and we need to step back take a moment to reflect, digest and process what’s going on because in the moment it seems great until its not.

Thank you for reading! If you have any Nashville hardcore band recommendations let me know. On YouTube I put together a playlist of local bands I’ve been discovering let me know who I should add.
