Nashville!! How was your weekend, did you end up going to the pickle festival, did you pick up a free comic book for national comic book day, or did you dabble in something else? Let me fill you in on last week’s recap.

After a long day of work it was time to decompress and treat myself to some live music.

Wednesday night it was not only my first time attending The Basement, it was also my first time seeing Wes Parker. Eva Cassel started the night off by serenading everyone with her effortless vocals. You really need to go check her out right now!

I found out about Wes Parker through a Tiktok video of Wes portraying a Crust Punk character named Skunk. Skunk is a sweet and out of pocket sweet soul that’ll definitely capture your heart. Skunk reminds me of a friend I had growing up back home in NY.

Wes Parker is a VA based indie rock artist whose vocals are absolutely soothing and has a relaxing tone to his voice. The whole sound and vibe of his art feels like one big comfy sweater. Anytime is a great time to listen to Wes Parker. In particular I throw on his album when I’m going for a long drive, it really amplifies the scenic routes. I look forward to Wes Parker’s solo EP Super Rare which will be released June 5th, 2026.

Thursday

On Thursday I drove over to Cheba Hut for the Take Our Tickets Tour hosted by 102.9 The Buzz. If you’re not listening to your local radio station then what the hell are ya doing?!

Anyway, I was debating on going because Thursdays and really busy and can be quite chaotic (I work in a kitchen and have been in the service industry 15 plus years now.) A little bit of doubt entered my mind and I was like yeah no. Even if I don’t win I’m getting out and doing something and who knows maybe I’ll make new friends and at least I could say I tried. For every doubt that enters my mind lately I challenge myself to just commit and do it.

The parking lot of Emery Commons was packed! I circled the parking lot twice no luck. I drove down a side street, it was looking promising until I realized how far away it was. My anxiety was creeping in and the stir of “what if’s” started to loop and just like STFU AND BE POSITIVE DAMMIT! I enter the parking lot again and boom there was a spot!

I walk up to the table write my information on a entry ticket and waited with excitement to see if I would have luck of the draw! Every 20 minutes they pulled about 10 names. If your name was called you walked over to a table where they had a ton of concerts to choose from.

The Take Our Tickets Tour started at 5-pm and went until 7pm. My name wasn’t called on the first round and I was getting hangry. I walked inside Chēba Hut when the tour was being hosted for a bite. I recently stropped eating meat just because of personal reasons and was delighted to see vegetarian options. I ended up getting the power plant on a toasted garlic and herb sub which had Guacamole, hummus, feta, spring mix, tomato, onion, pickle, cucumber, shrooms, black olive, green bell pepper, Shake & House dressing on it. You can also choose a jalapeño hummas, keep that in mind if you try it. Also I was able to sub out my chips for a in-house sweet treat, I went with the Fruity Krispy which is a fruity pebbles rice krispy. For a drink I said F*** it and went with a nostalgic classic, Blue Raspberry lemonade Kool-Aid. Okay let me stop because my mouth is salivating.

After I get everything I’m chowing down outside enjoying the atmosphere listening to music and then DUN DUN ITS TIME FOR ROUND TWO! A couple names get called and then I hear “Taylor-Rose!” And I’m like “oh Sh** that’s me!” Now I’m at the table and the choices I had in mind are gone! But in the wise words of French Montana “DON’T PANIC.” Looking at the concerts that were left I’m like “okay I’ve seen them, I’m going to see this artist this summer, ah aah PANIC!!! I ended up going with Bush! On May 15th I will be at First Bank Amphitheater singing my heart out.

Let me tell you the crowd was lively. It was nice to see everyone clap and cheer on the winners. I also really love how 102.9 The Buzz plays local artists as well. Be sure to check on their website on the Locals Only tab to get familiar with the artists amongst you. For instance they play a song by Glass Lands. I wish I could remember the song, all I know is that their melodic and heavy vocals hooked me.

Saturday

At the East Side Bowl, Pro Wrestling Symphony held their Blinding Lights Event. There was also an after party at the Up Down. I wasn’t able to attend the after party but next time I definitely will.

I previously saw Pro Wrestling Symphony when I shot for The Pretty Ravens at the East Nashville Beer Festival. So when I saw they were going to be in the area again I just had to go.

These pro wrestlers have such a passion for what they do. You can see it in how they curate their outfits, personas and just the skill it takes to know how to land a move correctly and even getting thrown down onto the ring is really noteworthy all on its own. I really have respect for these athletes because I can’t even imagine jumping off the top rope onto someone else. Even though I really just want to belly flop on the ring just to experience the feeling. I know I know a belly flop isn’t ideal but can’t a girl dream?!

This time around seeing Pro Wrestling Symphony was extra special. I took my children with me for a family night out and wow it was a night to remember! My daughter was absolutely thrilled to see women wrestlers throwing down in the ring. My daughter said “MOM THERES GIRLS WRESTLERS! GIRLE CAN WRESTLE TOO?!” I replied to her said “well of course! Girls can do anything my love!” Sigrid VS Ravenna Vein opened up a new world for her! My son also thoroughly enjoyed wrestling as well. With every rumble of the ring he was in awe and absolutely loved cheering on for Adrian Thomas.

When purchasing your ticket you can choose standing or ring side. We went with ring side seats. I did warn both my children that it could be a possibility a wrestler accidentally knocking into the barricade and to be aware and reminded them through the event.

After the first 6 matches it was time for the PWS championship match Jeremiah Plunkett VS Colby Carter. The match had you glued with every toss and throw down!

Then towards the end after Plunkett lost he toyed with your emotions! He got me good I said wow what showman ship congratulating Colby and then once you hooked on deception BOOM chaos erupted! Shoes went flying refs were thrown right, left, up, down every where! Bodies were flying, it was insane! At one point Plunkett flung Colby he landed outside of the ring and his ankle in between the barricade which accidentally tapped my daughter’s arm. It all happened so fast! I look over at her and then the silent build up to a scream erupted. I pulled her away from the crowd everyone stops in shock.

My old EMT skills come in for a quick assessment and once she said she was okay and I knew she was okay I grabbed both her wrists and flipped them high to the sky and said “ SHES OKAY!!” The crowd cheers and the match continued. I think she was more scared than hurt I mean being 5 years old and having a wrestlers foot coming at ya in a blink of an eye would startle anybody!

I really do have to emphasize my thanks and appreciation to everyone that worked at the event and made sure she was okay during and after. Things happen and this was an accident. She wasn’t seriously hurt and I’m their mother and knew what the possibilities of something like this happening was.

Honestly that night I believe we all witnessed my daughter’s origin story. The next morning my daughter wakes up walks into my room and asks “When’s the next match?”

Thank you for reading, please check out Pro Wrestling Symphony and attend Their next event on June 6th 3pm at the Fit Expo which will be held at The Fairgrounds in Nashville.
