Rock Steady Nashville

NASHVILLE!!! It’s been a minute how was your weekend, did you do anything exciting or attend Rocky Steady Nashville at The Basement East?!

What is Rock Steady Nashville you ask, it is “ a celebration of the enduring Nashville Rock Scene.”

I had the absolute honor of being apart of Rock Steady Nashville. At first when I was asked if I would be interested in submitting my work I was in total disbelief. Could this be spam or an actual opportunity?! I love music, photography, art and supporting anything local so when it turned out this was a legitimate event I immediately submitted my work!

Rock Steady took place at The Basement East. This was a full circle moment, I started taking my photography more seriously back in January when my friend asked me to shoot his tribute show here and now in August I’m displaying my photography and art at the same venue!

Enough about me let’s get back to Rock Steady. Doors opened at 6pm The music ensued at 7pm. You were able to peruse around different visual artists wall panels. Some featured artists included Hannah Mae who specializes in watercolor, realism and whimsy. Another featured artist was Becks Lee, a local middle Tennessee artist that works with abstract concepts and unique mediums. There were so many talented artists such as Zombielampshade Allcre8ions Amber_E_Rivers Bpthreebootlegdead Christinalangone Visual minds.co

Speaking of artists, there were performances by Nashvilles hottest rock bands. You most certainly want to check out Echo Pilot, Fatal Affair, Campanula and Year of October.

The night opened with Year of October that has a unique sound and reminded me vocally a bit of The biggest female legend I first listened to, Janis Joplin. Year of October has a bluesy sound which I admire.

Campanula which are originally from Scranton Pennsylvania brought a very psychedelic fusion of indie/modern rock to the stage. I throughly enjoyed their energy and sound they brought to the stage! These five guys really had a unique vibe all around.

I absolutely loved loved Fatal Affair. If it’s anything I love most is seeing women that rock! High octane, grunge/ rock is definitely an infectious frequency you’re going to want to experience. I even saw a post relate their sound of a mixture of Avril Lavigne and Evanescence. Fatal Affair has a song called love bomb. If you’ve ever had the unfortunate deal of being love bomb these lyrics are going to hit home.

Wrapping the night up was Echo Pilot. Echo Pilot definitely has an authentic sound which is refreshing. Rich vocal harmonies, catchy hooks is something for everyone to love. Echo Pilot kept the energy up and the crowd moving! Me personally even had to put my camera down and submerge myself in the moment. There’s nothing like live music and I hope all these artists continue to thrive and keep Nashvilles Rock Scene alive!

I also wanted to shine light on Dream House.

Without their hard and endless work on the art installation, set design and set build there definitely would’ve been a missing creative piece that tied everything together. I wanted to extend my gratitude and thanks to everyone involved that made this event happen.

Nashville Launch Pad came out and showed their support and I think it’s important you know about what they do.

Nashville Launch Pad is thee only LGBTQ+ affirming source of emergency that also has transitional living programs that help young adults 18-26 years old that are provided access to basic supplies, beds, meals and importantly a supportive community. I’m getting teary eyed now writing this because there is a 120% more likely chance that a young adult in the LGBTQ+ community would experience homelessness than straight and cisgender adults. What a time that was had! It was beautiful being in a room with creatives sharing stories, art, listening to music and making new friends. I will forever cherish this day and look forward to the next one!
